Hello everyone,
I bought my Model 3 last year and fell in love with Teslamate. I installed it on a Raspberry Pi and enjoyed all the telemetry data the car collects like a geek.
But after the initial excitement, three problems arose that became a constant annoyance.
First, using Grafana on mobile was simply uncomfortable. On a large screen it works great, but on the phone the layout is clumsy, the text is small, and checking data on the go becomes frustrating.
Second, setting up secure remote access was time-consuming. I started with reverse proxies and SSL certificate management, and it was a low-level task I didn't want to maintain. I tried tools like Cloudflare Tunnels and Tailscale, which are better, but integrating them cleanly into the Teslamate Docker stack still required manual work.
Third, cost tracking was a pain. Teslamate's single-cost option is too basic. With different rates at home for peak and off-peak hours, at work, and at Superchargers, I ended up editing the cost almost every charging session to keep the statistics accurate.
I didn't find any simple mobile interface that solved this, so I decided to build the one I needed.
After a few months of development in my spare time, I published mytesla.cc.
To be clear, this is not a replacement for Teslamate. It's a lightweight, mobile-friendly dashboard. Your data remains yours on your server with your Teslamate instance. This interface just offers a usable experience on the phone.
My goals were to solve my own annoyances.
Usable mobile interface: a responsive web app that opens, shows your stats, and closes. Quick queries without fighting with charts designed for desktop.
Simpler remote access: I've integrated and scripted Tailscale into the Teslamate stack to facilitate a secure point-to-point connection. If you prefer Cloudflare Tunnels or your own method, it's still compatible.
Useful cost tracking: I added options for location-based and peak/off-peak hourly rates to reflect what you actually pay at home, at work, or at Superchargers.
Let's talk about security because it's fundamental. I'm very careful about privacy. My service never sees or stores your car's data. Period.
The browser connects directly to your Teslamate server through a secure tunnel you control, like the one Tailscale installs. The dashboard is just the nice interface that runs in your browser, and the data travels through that end-to-end encrypted connection.
I made the tool available to other Teslamate users for a one-time payment of 9.9, with a no-questions-asked refund within 5 days if you're not convinced.
